Alex Moore

Sit down with London-based illustrator Alex Moore as we discuss what the Lower Your Sights project means to them, their contribution to the anthology, and their thoughts on the unifying power of art.

Q: What does this project mean to you?
Alex: For me, this project was an opportunity to put my skill to good use and contribute something to an extremely worthwhile cause. It’s amazing to see so many people in the industry come together to contribute to this and hopefully it will help raise not only funds but awareness for the work Voices of Children are doing.

Q: What is your contribution to Lower Your Sights? (Short Story, Pinup, Etc.)
Alex: I provided artwork for Andy Eschenbach’s Maggots with Taylor Esposito on letters and Chas! Pangburn editing.

Q: In addition to supplying food and essential supplies, Voices of Children also provides art
therapy to help kids cope and overcome the stress, anxiety, and trauma of living in war
conditions. Do you believe art has the power to heal?

Alex: I think art can be an extremely useful tool in processing events and trauma, as well as
expressing things that may be too difficult to vocalise. There can also be a communal aspect
to the act of creation (such as the mosaics created by the community in the wake of the Grenfel fire) which can help bring people together.
