The President’s infamous screw-up son cracks open the vault at Area 51, and appropriately on this unlucky day, another secret spills out.

Mad Cave Studios announced today that 51 #1, the incendiary new sci-fi satire from writer Curt Pires (You’ve Been Cancelled), has sold out at the distributor level following its debut release.

Featuring art, colors, and a fresh new cover by Jok (The Body Trade), with lettering by three-time Ringo Award nominee Micah Myers, 51 blends high-octane action with sharp political satire to imagine a world where every conspiracy theory might actually be true—ripping into conspiracy culture, political rot, and the dangerous people left holding the country’s secrets together with scotch tape as the series heads back to print ahead of issue #2.

Synopsis: What if all the secrets housed in AREA 51 leaked out into the world? Who would be responsible for that mess? And who would be responsible for cleaning it up? After the President’s screw-up son, Harvey, gets in trouble with the law, his dad calls in a favor and gets him assigned to the real-life Area 51—Hangar 51. But it’s not the thrill ride the conspiracy theorists would have you believe. Harvey spends most of his days cataloging items he’s forbidden from even looking at.

That all changes when Harvey and his coworkers decide to throw a rager and wake up from their bender to find that every single item from Hangar 51 has been stolen. Now in the deepest trouble of his life, Harvey and his ragtag crew must go out into the world and put the genie back in the bottle—capturing rogue aliens, stolen superpower formulas, experimental energy weapons, and all manner of impossible objects. And as they hunt each piece down, a darker truth begins to surface: who actually broke into Hangar 51… and what do they plan to do with what they took? Writer Curt Pires and artist Jok take you on a trip like you’ve never been to explore a conspiracy theory you won’t ever believe!

Meet The Creators

Writer, Curt Pires

Curt Pires is a bestselling writer, producer, and creative that splits his time between Calgary, Canada and Hollywood. He is the creator of hit series Youth and Wyrd, both of which are in development as scripted television series (at Amazon and FX, respectively), as well as a slew of other original series and graphic novels that have garnered critical acclaim. The founder of TECC CONTENT, a vertically integrated publishing and production house, Curt was named to the 2022 class of Forbes illustrious 30 under 30.

Artist, Jok

Jok was born in Buenos Aires (Argentina) in the seventies and has been working as a comic book artist since 1993. His work’s been published in the USA (Image, Massive, Heavy Metal, Scholastic, Capstone, Alien Books, Mad Cave, Hermes Press and Deadsky), but also all over Europe, China, Brazil, and Argentina.

He runs a studio along with his comrades in arms since 2001, splitting his time amongst several endeavors including work for hire projects, creator owned books, attending conventions all over the world and not missing a match of his weekly soccer with friends and colleagues.

In 51, Pires blends high-octane sci-fi spectacle with biting satire and an unexpectedly emotional core, crafting a story about found family inside a broken machine, inherited expectations, and the secrets, personal and national, that refuse to stay buried. The brand new series detonates a world where alien tech, weaponized belief, and government secrets collide spectacularly.

Issues of 51 #1 reprint and 51 #2 arrive in shops April 29, 2026, with a Final Order Cutoff on April 6. Readers are encouraged to preorder through their local comic shop and from Mad Cave, while supplies last!
