MEET THE CREATORS!

Get to know the winners of Mad Cave Studios’ 2022 Talent Search, and the creators of Tales From the Cave! We’ve got the details by title below!

NOTTINGHAM

Writer, David Hazan
“I’m thrilled to be able to tell some stories alongside yet another batch of brilliant Talent Search creators, and this time, we’re getting to get a bit more spooky with Nottingham, which is something I hope is appealing to readers old and new! And another opportunity to work with Shane is always a godsend. Join us as Everard Blackthorne, the Sheriff of Nottingham has yet another bad day!” – Writer, David Hazan

Spearhead (Hunt. Kill. Repeat.)

Writer, Rachel Pinnelas
Rachel is a comic book writer and editor currently based in Los Angeles. A comic fan from a young age, she started her professional career in the industry as an intern at Marvel while studying architecture. Her editorial experience at Marvel and DC Comics includes Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Widow, and The Flash: A Celebration of 75 Years. She is a 2022 Mad Cave Studios Talent Search winner.

“”Spearhead” focuses on Athena and her place on Mount Olympus now that the gods have set-up their takeover of humanity in present-day New York City. It’s a story of decisive action and thought in the spirit of the Olympian goddess herself. I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to feature the characters of “Hunt. Kill. Repeat.” and work with such an extraordinarily talented team!” – Writer, Rachel Pinnelas

Artist, Marco Tortella
Since childhood, Marco has always had a great passion for drawing and for comics. The desire to draw comics led him to enroll in the international school of Comics in Rome, which he attended for three years.
After small collaborations in Italy and America, he arrived at Mad Cave Studios, winning the 2022 talent search.

“Spearhead” is a script with which I had a good creative feeling right away. It is a dynamic story, with different settings, and different characters, where it is about Athena fighting against men, who make a mockery of the law of the gods. I had a lot of fun drawing it, and I am grateful to be part of this talented team.” – Artist, Marco Tortella

Not All Cats Go to Heaven (Battlecats)

Writer, Keith Frady
Keith Frady is an Atlanta-based comics writer. His work has been published by indie presses, a Kirkus-starred anthology, and an Eisner-winning comics journal. You can find his collection of short comics, The Usual Choices, at theusualchoices.com.

“This story presented me with a fun challenge since it was the first time I’ve written in someone else’s universe. I’m grateful to everyone at Mad Cave for giving me this opportunity to develop as a writer, and I hope the fans enjoy our foray into their beloved world.” – Writer, Keith Frady

Artist, Riccardo Cecchi
Riccardo Cecchi is an Italian comic book and storyboard artist. He’s been drawing comics since childhood, and in 2019 he decided to turn his passion into a career. He has contributed to many successful crowdfunding campaigns and worked with various small publishers, both in Italy and the US. He also draws a comic book strip for an Italian newspaper, and makes storyboards for ads and movies. Riccardo owns a professional degree from the Italian “Scuola Internazionale di Comics” (“International Comic Books school”) and an MSc in computer engineering. Last but not least, he’s a full-time husband and dad.

“Drawing these pages and working with the guys at Mad Cave has taught me a lot, and hopefully made me a better artist. I hope the reader enjoys the story and the art as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.” – Artist, Ricardo Cecchi
