Written by Mad Cave
Published on 17 April 2026

In the dying days of the American frontier, survival is earned in blood, and legacy is something far more dangerous. The Dirt Beneath the Devil, the new original series from Mad Cave Studios, pulls readers into a bleak, dust-choked world where inheritance is not a gift, but a reckoning.

Written by comics’ legendary creator Dan Panosian (Slots), with art by Italian illustrator David Ferracci (Monsterverse), colors by Lee Loughridge (G.I. Joe), and letters by Pat Brosseau (Aquaman), The Dirt Beneath the Devil brings together a powerhouse creative team, with covers by Panosian, Jacob Phillips, Mark Chiarello, and Travis Charest.

THE DIRT BENEATH THE DEVIL
Writer: Dan Panosian – Artist: David Ferracci – Colorist: Lee Loughridge – Letterer: Pat Brosseau
Release Date: July 21st, 2026

Synopsis: In the dying days of the American frontier, a young woman journeys into the unknown to claim a legacy she never asked for—and may not survive.

June Buckley’s father was a monster in life. In death, he may be something worse.

Summoned alongside a group of treacherous heirs, June is forced to traverse the same brutal path that built her father’s empire. But the trail reveals more than hardship—it exposes the rot in every soul traveling beside her.

And at the center of it all is Hendido…a creature bound to her father’s past, and perhaps to something far older and much more wicked.

As the tension simmers and night closes in, June begins to understand: Her inheritance comes at a grisly price.

Meet The Creators

“Merging Gothic Horror with the Western genre has always intrigued me. The “Old West” was a dangerous place and time in America’s not so distant past. I took a journey down a dark and dusty trail where only the brave and fool-hearty dare travel. I recommend you pack a blanket and a pistol if you care to join me.”

— Writer, Dan Panosian

“To me, The Dirt Beneath the Devil is like a Hitchcock’s bomb—something you know right from the start is bound to explode sooner or later. Darkness, suspense, and cinema have always been my keywords, and drawing mixed genres has given me the chance to play with contrasts. My grandfather was a huge fan of Western movies and comics; he would have been really amused to see me draw one.”

— Artist, David Feracci

The Dirt Beneath the Devil is a slow burn descent into violence, inheritance, and the things we carry whether we want to or not.

The Dirt Beneath the Devil #1 goes on sale July 29, 2026 (FOC July 7), and  is now available for pre-order on the official Mad Cave Studios website.
